Troublion Rock

Né à Paris le 1er décembre 1947, Alain Claude Baschung grandit en Alsace, jusqu'à l'âge de 12 ans. Il quitte cette région conservatrice pour faire ses débuts dans le milieu Rock, avec son premier groupe : les Dunces. Country et rockabilly font les petites tournées du groupe, A 19 ans, il sort plus d'une dizaine de 45 tours dont : "Pourquoi rêvez-vous des Etats-Unis?", "T'es vieux t'es moche". Il interprête Robespierre dans une comédie musicale, et collabore avec l'ex-Chat Sauvage, Dick Rivers, mais dix années passent,, sans réèl succès.
De sa rencontre avec Andy Scott, musicien de studio, et Boris Bergman, auteur, nait "Romans Photos", son premier album entre rock cynique et jeux de mots. Le public reste perplexe… En 1979, l'album "Roulette russe", plus sombre, sera repressé en incluant le titre culte "Gaby", qui se vend à un million d'exemplaires. En 1981, de l'album "Pizza" sort "Vertige de l'amour", qui le conduit directement à l'Olympia et à l'Olympe du Top 50.
En 1982, Bashung travail avec le maître Serge Gainsbourg, sur l'album "Play Blessures". Sur le titre "Scènes de Manager" on flirt déjà avec la techno underground ! Bashung déconcerte encore plus le public avec "Figure imposée", très alternatif et aux textes carrément absurdes. Le mélange Rockabilly-electro est bysare à souhait et "Elégance" sonne presque comme un titre de Prince période "1999" ! La starisation le ratrappe dés 81 avec un film TV : Le Cimetière des Voiturees, de Fernando Arraba, qui en fait une sorte de Messie Rockstar !
En 1985, revirement "commercial" avec deux titres qui cartonnent : "SOS Amor", copié sur un très beau single Pop anglais passant en boucle sur une Canal+ naissante, puis "Touche pas à mon pote" au profit de SOS Racisme. En 1987, pour "Passé le Rio Grande", Alain Bashung reçoit la Victoire de la Musique du meilleur album. Les critiques le boudent un peux, son concept étant plus "conventionnel".
1991, avec "Osez Joséphine", Alain renoue avec le succès public et critique. En 93, une intégrale en neuf CD est disponible ! Bashung multiplie les CD live et les rôles au cinéma, notament pour "Ma sœur chinoise" d'Alain Mazars.
1998, "Fantaisie militaire", écrit avec son nouvel auteur fétiche Jean Fauque, est extrèmement raffiné et intimiste. Son dernier opus, Chaterton, contient le sublime "La Nuit Je Mens", tandis que Climax le glorifie en compagnie de la crème des artistes français. Bashung est décidément un troublion alternatif dans l'univers franchement conservateur Pop-Rock. Ne craignant aucune dérive littéraire ou musicale, il s'impose comme le rockeur-poète français perturbé et attachant, à la hauteur de la légende Rock&Roll, grâce à son univers bien personnel, sa "petite entreprise" …

Mister trouble man

Born in Paris the 1st December1947, Alain Claude Baschung grows in Alsace until the age of 12. He leaves this conservative region to make his debuts into the Rock business, with his first band "Dunces".Country and rockabilly makes the small tours, At 19, he makes ten singles. He interprets Robespierre for a musical, and collaborates with the 60's Rock french icon Dick Rivers, But ten years go on,, without any real success.
From his encounter with Andy Scott, a studio musician, and Boris Bergman, an author, is born "Romans Photos", his very first album between cynic Rock and strange games with words. But the audience doesn't seem to understand the radical move.
In 1979, the album"Roulette russe", darker, will be re-released, including the cult single "Gaby", a song that solds a million copies. In 1981, from the album "Pizza" is released the classic "Vertige de l'amour", that brings him directly on the mythic Olympia scene and finaly at the to top of the charts. In 1982, Bashung works with the genius Serge Gainsbourg, on the album "Play Blessures". On the track "Manager's scene", we almost touch underground techno, and it's only 1982! The next year, Bashung disconcerts the public once again with "Figure imposée", very alternative and packed of absurd texts and a strange Rockabilly-electro music. "Elegance" sounds almost like a princey weird song from "1999"! Bashung did not escape stardom: in 1981, he's on TV with a TV-movie: Le Cimetière des Voitures (The Cemetery of Cars), of Fernando Arraba, he plays a sort of Rockstar-messiah!
In 1985, he turns more commerciäl with two LPs that sell very well: SOS Amor", copied on a very beautiful English Pop hit, Alain Bashung tours with "Touche pas à mon pote" in benefit of the SOS Racism association. In 1987, for the LP "Passé le Rio Grande", Alain Bashung receives a Victory of the Music Price for the best album. Not a critic success as the music and concept are more "conventional.
1991, with"Osez Joséphine", Alain comes back again with public and critic success. In 1993, an entire carrer CD collection is released - 9 CDs! Since, Bashung tours and releases Live CDs and play in movies as an actor, especialy for "Ma sœur chinoise" of Alain Mazars. 1998,"Fantaisie militaire" ("military Fantasy"), written with his new fetish author Jean Fauque, is extremely intimate. HIs last CD, "Chaterton", contains the sublime "La Nuit Je Mens" (" The Night I Lie"), while "Climax" glorifies him in company of the French artists cream.
Alain Bashung is a real alternative trouble man into the frankly conventional and conservative Pop-Rock universe. Fearing no musical or literary drifting, he is at last recognize as the French Rock-poet, disturbed and attaching, Thanks to his universe so very personnal…
