Né à Seattle en 1942, Johnny Allen Hendrix, fils d'un
jardinier noir et d'une femme d'origine cheerokee, passe une enfance
mouvementée, éduqué tour à tour
par sa mère, sa grand mère indienne et son père,
Al. Rêveur original, l'enfant écoute énormément
de musique, il baigne donc dans l'univers de Duke Elington, Louis
Jordan et bien d'autres.. Lors de l'achat d'une guitare
bon marché par son père, Jimmy a déjà 16 ans
– Jimi n'a joué de la guitare que onze années ! En
1957, Elvis Presley joue à Seattle, Jimmy y assiste. Il est subjugué.
Après
un passage à l'armée,
il part pour Nashville et joue dans plusieurs groupes, dont celui de
BB King. Après un cours aller-retour à Vancouver
au cours de l'hiver 62, il embarque pour sa première tournée
au printemps 63 pour accompagner George Odell.
Jimmy traverse les Etats Unis, joue partout où il peut et atterri
fin 1963 à New York. La chance tourne en mars 1964, car il est
engagé pour enregistrer et tourner avec les Isley Brother. Installé à New
York, il est remarqué par
Chas Chandler qui lui présente les deux musiciens avec qui il
fonde le Jimi Hendrix Experience. Le phénomène
Hendrix s'impose d'abord à Londres par son jeu unique de gaucher
- il joue sur une guitare de droitier avec les cordes inversées-,
et ses prestations incontrôlées. Plus tard, son interprétation "électrisante" de
l'hymne américain lors du rassemblement de Woodstock, ou encore
le sacrifice incendiaire de sa guitare sur scène, le font entrer
dans la légende. Pourtant, après seulement quatre albums
officiels, et de nombreux concerts étourdissants, Jimi Hendrix
meurt d'une overdose âgé de seulement 27 ans.

a cheap guitar, Jimmy already was 16 years old! So Jimi

only eleven years!
In 1957, Elvis Presley plays in Seattle, Jimmy assists
to the show and is subjugated. After the army, he leaves
for Nashville and plays in several bands, of which that one of BB
King.
He embarks for his first tour in spring 63 to accompany George Odell.
Jimmy crosses the United States, plays everywhere where he can and lands
at the end of 1963 in New York.
The chance turns in March 1964, because
heis engaged to record and turn with Isley Brother.
Installed in New York, it is noticed by Chas Chandler who introduces
the two musicians
to him with whom he creates the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
The Hendrix phenomenon is essential initially in London with hissingle
play of left-handed
person
- he plays on a guitar of right handedwith the reversed cords -, and
his uncontrolled shows.
Later, his"charged with electricity" interpretation
of the American anthem at the time of the gathering of Woodstock,
or the sacrifice flamer of his guitar on scene, make himhim a legend.
However, after only four official albums, and in many dazing concerts,
Jimi Hendrix dies of a (drugs) overdose old of only 27 years.
